Luxaire's New Acclimate UVC Germicidal Light Brings Bright Ideas to Indoor Air Quality
Product Radiates Ultraviolet Light to Kill Microbial Organisms in Home Comfort Systems
NORMAN, OKLA. - (February 11, 2009) - The new Acclimate™ UVC (ultraviolet "C" frequency) germicidal light from Luxaire (www.joinluxaire.com/mawpr) brings bright ideas to indoor air quality as it radiates the microbial organisms that accumulate and grow on wet surfaces of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
These organisms (mold and fungus) are responsible for indoor air quality degradation, including the foul odor, otherwise known as "Dirty Sock" syndrome. The organisms also restrict airflow through the coil and limit heat transfer capability, which decreases performance and increases the operating costs of the equipment.
The new Acclimate UVC germicidal light is installed inside an HVAC system and irradiates the areas inhabited by the offending organisms, making it impossible for them to survive. As the organisms disappear, so do the odors and indoor air quality complaints.
To eliminate contaminants in HVAC systems, a UVC light must be able to provide maximum dosage of UVC energy at 45 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit in a rapidly moving airstream. Although many commercial lamps are designed for optimal performance at room temperature, the Luxaire Acclimate lamp uses a blend of inert gases in the bulb and a specialized power supply that maintains the optimal plasma temperature inside the bulb, even in a low temperature, moving airstream, making it the perfect application for an HVAC system.
By providing a lamp that with the highest output at low temperatures, the Luxaire Acclimate UVC germicidal light will kill target organisms in the shortest period of time. And, the mixture of gases creates a bulb which does not produce UV with wavelengths of less than 200 nanometers, meaning the new light does not contribute to ozone production.
The product's lamp assembly must be changed at or before 9,000 hours (approximately 12 months) of operation to maintain design output and to ensure germicidal effectiveness. An indicator light on the front panel of the power supply housing changes from blue to yellow to remind the consumer to contact the installing contractor to change the lamp. When the indicator light turns red, the lamp assembly must be replaced to maintain the highest level of performance.
The Acclimate UVC germicidal light is available in single and dual 115 and 208/230 volt models. To learn more, please contact your local Luxaire distributor.
